In December 2024, Jessica and Mario’s daughter Ayla was born at just 23 weeks, weighing 1 pound, 5 ounces. She was flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital—three hours from home—to fight for her life in the NICU.

Mario followed in the middle of the night. Jessica stayed behind with their toddler, Amelia, whispering prayers for the baby she couldn’t hold. Then, a few days later, everything changed.

“They have a room for us,” Mario said.
It was the Ronald McDonald House—just steps from the hospital.

That room became their refuge. A cozy place to sleep. A kitchen full of meals. A playground for Amelia. A community of parents who understood. At the end of long days by Ayla’s side, RMHC gave them comfort, connection, and hope.
